Location
Anahata (“unstruck sound”) opens at the center of the chest, level with the heart, between the shoulder blades. It hovers in the sacred chamber behind the sternum, where the thoracic spine meets the wings of the scapulae—an inner sky where breath and pulse converge.
Colour
Green – the tender emerald of new leaves, the deep forest jade of ancient moss. A secondary rose-pink ray blooms within, the colour of unconditional love and self-forgiveness.
Crystals
Rose Quartz: soft pink balm; dissolves heartbreak and restores trust in love.
Green Aventurine: luck of the heart; attracts harmonious relationships.
Malachite: swirling verdant catharsis; clears old grief and betrayal.
Rhodonite: pink-black matrix; heals abandonment and teaches self-compassion.
Petals or Sub-vortices
Twelve translucent petals the colour of spring moss, inscribed with the seed letters kaṁ, khaṁ, gaṁ, ghaṁ, ṅaṁ, caṁ, chaṁ, jaṁ, jhaṁ, ñaṁ, ṭaṁ, ṭhaṁ. Two interlaced triangles form a six-pointed star—the union of upward (Shiva) and downward (Shakti) currents.
Organs & Systems
Heart and pericardium (circulatory pump)
Lungs and bronchial tree (breath of life)
Thymus gland (immune identity)
Arms, hands, shoulders (embrace and release)
Vagus nerve (rest-and-digest parasympathetic tone)
Sense of touch (skin as boundary and bridge)
Psychology
Relational mind and bridge consciousness – the pivot between personal and transpersonal. When balanced, it manifests as:
Unconditional love without possession
Empathy that retains healthy boundaries
Grief transformed into gratitude
When deficient: isolation, coldness, inability to receive, chronic upper-back pain.
When excessive: codependency, self-sacrifice, emotional hemorrhage, “love” as manipulation.Core Life Lesson“I love without losing myself, and I receive without owing.”
Life Lesson
The Heart Chakra teaches that love is not a transaction—it is the atmosphere in which all beings breathe. The lesson is to keep the inner gate open while guarding the threshold: to give from overflow, not depletion; to receive without debt; to let every heartbeat sound the unstruck chord of unity beneath apparent separation.
